Meditation and Relaxation Seminar
Seminar Description: Test anxiety occurs when negative thoughts and the fear of failure interfere with the ability to concentrate and remember. Research has shown that meditation and relaxation exercises are an effective way to neutralize this kind of stress and consequently enhance academic performance.
This seminar will provide students with some easy meditation techniques to help increase focus, improve information recall and reduce anxiety before, as well as during, exams.
Time: Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Cost: $3.
About the Instructor:
Cathy Netter Bregman is a skilled meditation facilitator with over ten years of experience. Her specialty is guided imagery, an effortless technique that uses words and music to calm the mind and relax the body.
In addition to conducting seminars, teaching mindfulness techniques to students in a classroom setting and working one-to-one, Cathy has developed a line of guided imagery CDs for home and hospital use. She has been commissioned by physicians to create meditations for their patients and sought after by educators wishing to learn ways to decrease stress in school. Recently, a selection of her work was translated into Hebrew and Arabic for distribution by a non-profit organization in Israel.
Cathy is the founder and director of the Healing Centre at Temple Sholom, which provides resources and assistance to individuals who are suffering from stress, anxiety, illness, pain or loss. She has a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from New York University. A transplanted New Yorker, Cathy has lived in Vancouver for 30 years.
