“Between a Rock and a Hard Place: Israel’s Changing Position in the Middle East.” Presentation by Dylan Hanley, Director, Canadian Academics for Peace in the Middle East. Noon, Hillel House: The Diamond Foundation Centre for Jewish Campus Life at UBC.
Dylan Hanley is currently Director of Canadian Academics for Peace in the Middle East, an organization governed by academics and dedicated to promoting nuanced, academically rigorous debate surrounding Middle East issues on Canadian campuses. Dylan’s involvement in the subject of Israel/Palestine followed an interesting path as his position evolved from being a pro-Palestinian activist during his undergraduate years to a strongsupporter of Israel today. Dylan holds an M.A. in International Relations and Israel Studies and a B.A. in Political Science, both from the University of Calgary. His areas of academic interest include: Middle Eastern geopolitical security and politics, regional nuclear non-proliferation, the Middle East peace process, counter-terrorism, and Zionist philosophy.
