British Columbia’s Jewish community is among the fastest-growing in North America. Part of this spectacular strength is due to the vitality of Hillel. In the past decade, Hillel has gone from a single campus with fewer than 100 involved students to a constellation of centres on the province’s three largest campuses, serving thousands of students annually.
As Hillel has grown, we have attracted more and more students from around the world, representing dozens of countries, most provinces and many U.S. states. A great number of these students stay after graduation, making British Columbia home and strengthening our community in perpetuity.
A strong and well-resourced Hillel today ensures a vibrant and well-led Jewish community tomorrow. And a strong Hillel today requires the investment of a community.
Hillel’s growth has been possible because the agencies and families of British Columbia’s Jewish community have recognized the crucial importance of our work, engaging and empowering unaffiliated Jewish young people, encouraging Jewish students to go deeper with their exploration of our heritage and traditions, and improving our campuses, communities and our world with projects of tikkun olam.
Vancouver Hillel is an integral component of British Columbia’s Jewish community, partnering with campus and community agencies to expand awareness and education to Jewish and non-Jewish students on campus while seamlessly integrating students into Jewish life after graduation.
We are a proud constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver.
The Federation has a comprehensive directory of Jewish agencies, organizations and services.
If you are a student who wants to connect with any component of the Jewish community, or if you represent a Jewish organization that would like to partner with Hillel on a project on or off campus, contact us.
